Trip to Gurun, Kedah

Three weeks ago ada urusan kerja di Gurun, Kedah. Dah lama tak pi Kedah baq hang! Last time tidoq Kedah masa event sukan antara matriks di Kulim more than 20 years ago. Nama event pun dah tak ingat dah.

Ulang alik Sungai Petani to Gurun

Since Gurun tak banyak hotel, we all decided to stay di Sungai Petani, about 20km drive from Gurun. Malam di Sungai Petani alive sikit daripada Gurun, senang sikit kalau nak grab late night snack or lepak pekena coffee.

Second day Dinner @ Big Mouth Republic

Sempat juga makan di Big Mouth Republic Sungai Petani. Locals cakap kat sini serve antara the best western food in town. Kat sini je ada jumpa Cola Kedah tu, sempat snap gambar je, minum tak boleh, sure byk gula. Apa kelas makan western bila ke utara kan? Tapi kebanyakkan tempat makan yang kami jumpa either  ikan bakaq, laksa atau western jer. So belasah western dulu ... nak rasa jugak camne western food made in Utara. Cari-cari juga kalau ada kedai pasemboq, sampai ke sudah tak jumpa. 

Restoran D'Pohon, Guar Chempedak

Hajat hati nak ke Yan Pasembor, since perjalanan jauh sikit and ada colleague yg dah nak gerak balik kl, so kami singgah pekena ais kacang salji di kedai berhampiran dengan laluan masuk Gunung Jerai. Antara menu pilihan kami adalah laksa ikan sekoq, coq udang and of course ais kacang salji yang salju jer ... yang paling best ... boss belanja. 

Maksu Laksa Dapur Arang

Laksa is a must kalau ke Kedah kalau tak kira trip ni tak sah. Locals recommended kami pi kedai ni yang terletak di Gurun, berdekatan dengan tempat kerja kami. Laksa yang terbukti sedap dengan kuah likat pekat dicampuq dengan kepedasan yang secukupnya memang kena dengan selera. There goes my diet ... ke laut!

Peak @ Gunung Jerai

Sempat jugak kami singgah naik ke puncak Gunung Jerai sebelum balik. We all drive naik ke puncak yg jauhnya lebih kurang 12km dengan route yang agak sunyi dan adventurous. Dari puncak kita boleh nampak sawah padi terbentang luas dan of course nampak shore line yang memisahkan laut dan darat. Kalau ke sini, make sure beringat-ingat ye, kawasan agak keras. Jangan jadi macam kami yang encounter experience mistik balik dari Jerai ni.

Taman Tasik Cempaka

Last weekend sempat bawa Doter jalan-jalan di Taman Tasik Cempaka. Selalu lalu di kawasan  ni tapi tak pernah singgah dan tak tau apa yang ada dalam taman ni.

Taman Tasik Cempaka terletak bersebelahan Kompleks PKNS, McDonalds dan Bangi Sentral. Macam taman-taman riadah yang lain, TTC juga ada jogging track, tasik dan taman permainan kanak-kanak. Kemudahan lain seperti parking dan tandas awam pun disediakan untuk orang ramai. Antara yang menarik di TTC adalah kemudahan menyewa basikal dan remote control cars untuk pengunjung meneroka taman selain berjalan kaki.

Trek laluan 10,000 langkah ... memang sesuai dengan aktiviti harian saya.

Ada beberapa kemudahan untuk menyewa basikal, remote control cars dan skuter. Ada pelbagai jenis basikal untuk pilihan pengunjung. 

Sewaan basikal orang dewasa bermula dengan RM10 untuk setengah jam, basikal kanak-kanak RM10 untuk disewa sehingga 7:00 PM. Sewaan untuk remote control cars adalah RM15 dan skuter RM25 untuk setengah jam.

Since Doter pilih nak naik "4WD", kami ikutkan aje. Pakai seat-belt dulu ... 

...and off we go ... penat juga la menapak ikut 4WD dia ni, ntah berapa kali tawaf sekitar taman ...

Festival Bundle and Vintage, Bandar Baru Bangi

My Shuben is a fan of bundle and vintage. Pagi tadi, Shuben ajak jalan-jalan cuci mata di  Festival Bundle and Vintage di perkarangan parking lot bersebelahan Kompleks PKNS & McDonald Bandar Baru Bangi.

Festival ni memang sarat dengan barangan vintage dan preloved, banyak juga yang 'rare'. Memang heaven lah bagi peminat macam Shuben. Since I'm not into 'bundle' sangat, kira ok lah boleh cuci-cuci mata.

Tang ni lagi menarik minat saya dari bundle and vintage. Shuben pun dah lama mengidam nak pekena doyan, dapat lah rasa sikit walaupun harga takde lah murah mana. Saya masih dalam 'no sugar' mode, so tengok je la, ambik bau.

Apple Leadership and Learning Event

Hari ini saya berpeluang menghadiri Apple Leadership and Learning Event yang diadakan di Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa, Bandar Sunway.

Acara hari ini direka untuk memberi pendedahan kepada Educational Leaders tentang transformasi pengajaran dan pembelajaran menggunakan Apple Technology serta memberi peluang kepada peserta untuk meneroka lanskap perubahan kandungan digital dalam pendidikan kini.

Gallery Walk - Salah seorang Certified ADE (Apple Distinguished Educator) sedang memberi penerangan tentang pengalaman dan bahan digital yang telah dibangunkan.

Breakout session 1 - Peserta didedahkan kepada aplikasi Classroom untuk iPad. Apps ini boleh diklasifikan sebagai powerful teaching assistant di dalam kelas.

Breakout Session 2 - Peserta dibawa untuk meneroka bagaimana mengaplikasikan transformasi dalam pengajaran dan pembelajaran menggunakan iTunes U.

Meniti Titian Usang

Kita sibuk mengesot mengharung traffic jem, dia pun sibuk bawak family & friends menyeberang jalan. Scenario pagi tadi waktu berhenti di traffic light simpang ke Dengkel from Bangi Lama. Kita lucu tgk depa menyeberang, ntah-ntah mereka pun lucu tgk kita duduk dalam kotak besi mengesot-ngesot dalam jem.

Peratikan ekor yg depa guna utk balancekan body masa menyeberang.

Yg depan tu act macam ketua rombongan usha line & make sure semua ahli rombongan selamat melintas.

Catz: Nampak tak betapa jemnya waktu tu sampai sempat ambik gambar & buat ulasan 😀

Pasar Karat Bandar Seri Putra

Lama betul tak menulis. Skill pun dah karat macam tajuk entry kali ni 🌝

Weekend baru ni dapat luangkan masa jalan-jalan dengan Shuben & Doter di pasar karat Bandar Seri Putra.

Ok, promo time 🌝.

Pasar karat BSP atau #CarbootBandarSeriPutra diadakan pada setiap hari Ahad bermula seawal 6:00 pagi hingga 1:00 tengahari bertempat di Jalan SP 1/2 (Sepanjang deretan kedai e.g. Restoran TaQwa, KFC, Ban Soon dll). Kalau dari tol Putra Mahkota, lokasinya di sebelah kiri, depan deretan rumah kedai. Buat peminat barang terpakai, barang antik, barang koleksi, bundle mahupun yang nak berbisnes, boleh lah datang jalan-jalan cuci mata.

Banyak choices. Jalan-jalan pun selesa.

Seronok la tu jalan-jalan tambah tapak sambil cuci mata.

Lama. Yup memang lama. Lama sangat ditinggalkan sepi. Bagai tak bertuan. Mengundang sawang dan habuk. Masih ada kah yang sudi singgah?

Fighting Kawasaki Day 5 & 6

She had her 2nd dose IVIG yesterday. Temp pun nampaknya stayed below 37.5 from yesterday. She started to sit on her own. Alhamdulillah a good sign.

We manage to get an appointment @ IJN, tomorrow 21 Oct. The ambulance will take us there escorted by a doctor & a nurse.

Right after 2nd dose IVIG treatment habis ...

Owh that wafers tu, utk buat main kira-kira je 

Eventhough demam dah subside, ulcers satu mulut
masih blom baik ...
so still no consumption of food and drinks ..

Fighting Kawasaki Day 3 & 4

The IVIG treatment ended around 8am this morning. It took more than 12hrs since the machine pushing the the liquid stopped every hour. She will be monitored for 36 hrs, lepas tu kalau still demam lagi, they will start 2nd dose IVIG treatment. So another 12 hrs, another 9 tubes of human antibody.

Her temp was around 37.6 and stayed under 38 deg celcius all morning. So she slept all morning untill the visiting hours started.

Around 7:00pm, her temperature shoot naik ke 38.4 again. So tunggu till the end of the 36th hrs, the MO will make the decision samada kena start 2nd dose IVIG.

During the specialist visit in the afternoon, we heard a bad news. From the result of an Echo test, both Khalisya's coronary artery are dilated, and this is not a good sign. The MO will set an appointment with IJN for a 2nd opinion & Khalisya was diagnosed as Kawasaki Disease with bilateral coronary dilation.

I did some reading over the internet. Coronary dilation for KD is not a good sign at all. I'm hoping for a better result from IJN.

Practical doctors in da house

One of the practical doctors asked my permission untuk jadikan Khalisya as their subject or patience during a practical test. She selected Khalisya maybe because she's a special DS with Kawasaki disease. Agaknye la. I have no objection as long as Khalisya tak mengamuk. Lucky for them, she was sound asleep when their Prof came for the test.

Kalau dah demam, asyik nak berdukung jer ....

Fighting Kawasaki - Day 1 & 2

The Docs still tgh rule out symptoms. They have to confirm samada betul2 Kawasaki or other type of fever such as Scarlet Fever or Strep.

There are frequent visits  from the MOs, they can only identify 2 out of 5 symptoms of Kawasaki. According to their practice, to be diagnosed with kawasaki, one need to have at least 4 out of 5 its common symptoms.

In the afternoon, during the specialist visit, 4 kawasaki symptoms identified. So confirmed diagnose kawasaki disease and they will start the medication immediately.

I was briefed by the MO about the treatment, medication & risk. She will be treated with IVIG (human protein or antibodi), aspirin (to prevent blood clot in coronary artery), antibiotics and full maintenance drips (sbb tak boleh nak makan or minum). Bila MO mentioned about the risk of the aspirin, berdebar jugak hati. Redha je lah. Kita cuba sedaya upaya & tawakkal.

So once confirmed diagnose with kawasaki, bermulalah series of blood test, chest xrays, ECG, Heart ECO and dental visits.

Sampai malam ni, demam Khalisya masih belum subside eventhough dah start high dose aspirin & antibiotics. Avg temperature.

IVIG treatment suppose to start petang ni but since demam tak turun lagi. Kena postponed ke maghrib. The IVIG treatment will take 12 hrs utk kesemua 9 tube dihabiskan. So esok akan around 7am baru habis.

Fighting Fever - Day 5

I went to work in the morning.

Mak call around 4, telling me that si kecik asyik merengek & nak dukung all the time.

So, I got off work after 530 and we went straight to a specialist hospital .... again. While waiting, khalisya merengek je, macam in pain. Duduk salah, dukung salah, semuanya salah.

When we finally got to see Dr Arbaiyah, she was very consent of Khalisya's behaviour, as if, she's in great pain... restless.

Her lips was so red. Her tounge was fuĺl of ulcers. I heqed Dr Arbaiyah mentioned strawberry tongue and some weird disease.

I was not feeling at ease at all, even the specialist was very consent of her condition.

Finally, Dr Arbaiyah said, "kita warded mama". I can't agree more. She needs special care since at home all of us don't know what to do.

Unfortunately, the rooms at the specialist hospital was full that night. She wrote us a referal letter so that we can go to HPJ. I opened the letter, and there it was, the unknown disease that she suspected. Kawasaki disease.

Nobody around me know what it was. I knew then, this is not a regular fever, and I don't want to even google about it. I'm trying to stay positive.

Khalisya was warded in HPJ tonite. No diagnose was given since there's no specialist.

No drugs was given to her tonite, not even a drop of PCM. The nurses recommended sponging untill they have the instruction frm the doctora.

Her fever shoot up to 39.6 tonite, and still nothing was given to her to subside the fever.

I can't really sleep tonite, her temp was so high I'm afraid she will get 'tarik'.

Fighting Fever - Day 4

Tak sampai hati rasanya nak pergi offc. Dah buat sponging all nite pun demam masih shoot sampai 38°.

Dah 2 kali ke klinik biasa. Today nak bawak ke specialist, jumpa Dr. Khairul or Dr. Arbaiyah.

Rashes dah start banyak kat bahagian perut & pelvic area. Kesian si kecik ni, merengek je.

Dr prescribe antibiotic augmentine & supp. Selalunya lepas makan antibiotic, demam akan subside.

After the thrid dose, demam masih sama lagi.

Fighting Fever - Day 1 to 3

Its been 3 days of high fever. Takde sign to subside. Temp range from 38 to 40° C. Kesian my little sunshine.

The fever started suddenly, no sign of flu or cough. Bangun tido tiba-tiba temp shoot to 38°. PCM or Voren hanya akan turunkan fever ke 37.5°, ubat habis je, shoot semula to 38° or 39°.

I'm able to go to work half day on Friday tapi hati tak tenang sbb its not like her normal fever.

Since the first day sampai today, the third day, dah 2 klinik we all pergi. Both hanya prescribed voren & pcm as usual.

2nd day, rashes around pelvic area dah nampak. Quiet a bad rash. No wonder she's all cranky and moody. The only good thing was she drank a lot of water.

3rd day, bibir nampak kemerahan. She refused to drink or eat.

Clinic visitation chronology:
1st day - regular poliklinik
2nd day - hospital pakar (regular clinic)

Worth of Waiting ...

I'm in a specialist hospital for a follow up appointment with my gynae. I came here this morning after sending little munchkin to school. Got me a number 15. Wah, I'm still early... so I thought.

It's nearly 12 noon, it's been more than 2 hrs, and the number on the door is still 9. It freezed quite a long time at 7 as the doc had to rush to the delivery room.

It's still a long way til my no to be called.

It got me thinking, the checkup will take about 15 mins or less, and I have to pay, of course, more than rm200.

Is it worth the waiting?

Sleepyhead

This entry is posted to avoid me from dozing off in my client's office.

Am right now, doing some proof reading on the laptop and rendering videos on the client's mac but I can hardly open my eyes.

I haven't been sound asleep the whole week due to my piled up work plus my little sunshine was not feeling well the whole week.

So with all the overnight proofreading, video editing, sponging and nursing, I am now so damn tired. Not to mention a last minute catastrophe event where my IDs can't finished the scheduled assignment due to health issues and I have to take a desperate measure to finish up her work so that it won't meddle with the scheduled shooting week. And now my mind and body have started to give in. They wanted some peaceful rest.

Huh ... I'm awake now. Need to get back to work. Chow!

Birthday Cake

I wanted to buy a birthday cake for my little munchkin this morning. I walked into a local bakery under the assumption that the cakes there will be a lot cheaper. There were only a few cakes left and since I’m too lazy to go the ‘branded’ secret cake house, I stayed and picked a so-so-design rainbow cake. “Nak tulis apa apa?” she asked me. I said “yes” and started writing ’Happy Birthday Khalisya’ on a piece of paper. The cake was brought to the pantry for them to pipe the words on it. The young girl came out in a few minutes saying that the cake was faulty and cannot be sold to anyone. Then I chose a bluish ‘Minion’ choc sponge cake. For a minute there I thought Khalisya would love the design on the cake. And when I asked about the price, the young girl look at me deep into my eyes and said that she didn’t know the price and the person in charge was not around for her to ask. Duhh! I walked away straight to the ‘branded’ secret cake house and got me a Red Velvet cake.

There Goes My Wisdom Tooth

I've been having pain and infection caused by my upper right wisdom tooth. I had it remove today. I won't say it was a painless procedure. Despite the quite painful jab for the local anesthetic, I can't imagine going through the procedure without it.

When the numbness are gone, I can feel the absence of my wisdom tooth.

The Kahaani

It never crossed my mind that we gonna get lucky this weekend. I thought we will sleep in the maid's room or at least the staff's room but instead we were given a spacious and luxurious guest room by the pool. I heard that the room rate is RM1,500 per nite. We're so lucky!
