Trip to Gurun, Kedah

Three weeks ago ada urusan kerja di Gurun, Kedah. Dah lama tak pi Kedah baq hang! Last time tidoq Kedah masa event sukan antara matriks di Kulim more than 20 years ago. Nama event pun dah tak ingat dah.

Ulang alik Sungai Petani to Gurun

Since Gurun tak banyak hotel, we all decided to stay di Sungai Petani, about 20km drive from Gurun. Malam di Sungai Petani alive sikit daripada Gurun, senang sikit kalau nak grab late night snack or lepak pekena coffee.

Second day Dinner @ Big Mouth Republic

Sempat juga makan di Big Mouth Republic Sungai Petani. Locals cakap kat sini serve antara the best western food in town. Kat sini je ada jumpa Cola Kedah tu, sempat snap gambar je, minum tak boleh, sure byk gula. Apa kelas makan western bila ke utara kan? Tapi kebanyakkan tempat makan yang kami jumpa either  ikan bakaq, laksa atau western jer. So belasah western dulu ... nak rasa jugak camne western food made in Utara. Cari-cari juga kalau ada kedai pasemboq, sampai ke sudah tak jumpa. 

Restoran D'Pohon, Guar Chempedak

Hajat hati nak ke Yan Pasembor, since perjalanan jauh sikit and ada colleague yg dah nak gerak balik kl, so kami singgah pekena ais kacang salji di kedai berhampiran dengan laluan masuk Gunung Jerai. Antara menu pilihan kami adalah laksa ikan sekoq, coq udang and of course ais kacang salji yang salju jer ... yang paling best ... boss belanja. 

Maksu Laksa Dapur Arang

Laksa is a must kalau ke Kedah kalau tak kira trip ni tak sah. Locals recommended kami pi kedai ni yang terletak di Gurun, berdekatan dengan tempat kerja kami. Laksa yang terbukti sedap dengan kuah likat pekat dicampuq dengan kepedasan yang secukupnya memang kena dengan selera. There goes my diet ... ke laut!

Peak @ Gunung Jerai

Sempat jugak kami singgah naik ke puncak Gunung Jerai sebelum balik. We all drive naik ke puncak yg jauhnya lebih kurang 12km dengan route yang agak sunyi dan adventurous. Dari puncak kita boleh nampak sawah padi terbentang luas dan of course nampak shore line yang memisahkan laut dan darat. Kalau ke sini, make sure beringat-ingat ye, kawasan agak keras. Jangan jadi macam kami yang encounter experience mistik balik dari Jerai ni.

Apple Leadership and Learning Event

Hari ini saya berpeluang menghadiri Apple Leadership and Learning Event yang diadakan di Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa, Bandar Sunway.

Acara hari ini direka untuk memberi pendedahan kepada Educational Leaders tentang transformasi pengajaran dan pembelajaran menggunakan Apple Technology serta memberi peluang kepada peserta untuk meneroka lanskap perubahan kandungan digital dalam pendidikan kini.

Gallery Walk - Salah seorang Certified ADE (Apple Distinguished Educator) sedang memberi penerangan tentang pengalaman dan bahan digital yang telah dibangunkan.

Breakout session 1 - Peserta didedahkan kepada aplikasi Classroom untuk iPad. Apps ini boleh diklasifikan sebagai powerful teaching assistant di dalam kelas.

Breakout Session 2 - Peserta dibawa untuk meneroka bagaimana mengaplikasikan transformasi dalam pengajaran dan pembelajaran menggunakan iTunes U.

Bila Hujan Dah Turun ...

Turun je dari office, terkejut tengok air dah naik. Kereta dah jem sana-sini, masuk tak boleh, keluar pun tak boleh. Nasib baik, kereta di park di tempat tinggi, so tak ditenggelami air. Nasib baik jugak ada jalan rahsia keluar ke The Mines yang tak ramai orang tau, hanya penduduk sekeliling je yang tau. Berjaya jugak keluar pulang ke Bangi walaupun ikut jalan jauh.

A Weekend At Work: LSI Session I @ Residence Hotel Uniten, Seri Kembangan

So, as the title goes, I'm spending this weekend working. This is my first LSI session after attending DESCUM training few months ago. DESCUM stands for Development of Standard and Curriculum which is the method used to develop National Occupational Skill Standard (NOSS) by Jabatan Pembangunan Kemahiran (JPK).

As a PDL for NOSS Development facilitator, I need to attend 3 LSI sessions before I'm eligible to apply for  the title. So, I still have 2 more sessions to go.


Fortunately Khalisya is at home with her gramps.

The Arabian Lunch Date

It's been raining cats and dogs here in SK lately. Despite the weather, somebody decided to treat us an Arabic cuisine in Sana'a Restaurant, an ordinary looking Yemen & Arabic Restaurant which offers a great taste of good food. I guess better than Saba Restaurant.

Btw, thanks for the treat my fellow colleague, and Congratz for the promotion.

The rain pours as we're enjoying our superb grilled chicken. This was the part where we wanted to sing "Rain rain go awak come again another day".

Even with the severely pours, we have to head back to the office.

Trip to Besut

Outstation ke Besut last week. Since dah bermati-matian menyiapkan kerja untuk trip ni, masing2 dah tak larat nak drive. Nasib baik dpt naik flight. So flight dari KL ke KT lepas tu drive dari KT ke Besut, lebih kurang dalam 1.5 hours. Lepas juga lah rindu pada KT, sebab dapat singgah di Teluk Ketapang untuk SCT (Sotong Celup Tepung) & KLCC(Keropok Lekor Cicah Colek).

East cloud ... memang selalu cantik ...

Selagi Ada

Payah sungguh nak cari parking kat office sekarang ni. Selagi ada ruang, walaupun seinci, ada je kereta mencelah. Kalau time lunch, bukan sekadar double parking je, tripple parking pun ada.

Makan-Makan for a Friend

It's been a while since the last makan-makan entries. I should have posted a lot of makan-makan-in-the-office-entries since my room is located in front of the main pantry where almost all the makan-makan-celebration took place in the office.

This time the makan-makan is for a fellow officemate who resigned to be an entrepreneur. Good luck and all the best my friend.

Rusted Skill

Lately, kena la menggilap semula skill programming saya yang dah karat nih. Dateline makin hampir tapi tenaga MMP dah makin kurang, so MMP antique macam saya ni terpaksa la turun padang sekali. Nasib baik minat tu masih ada, cuma kekaratannya dah agak tebal, ambik masa sikit lah untuk diasah semula.

Road Trip

I left home early this morning and ...

Khalisya was still asleep.

My appointment with the Editor was at 7:00am @McDonald, Equine Park, but I arrived 10 minutes early due to the smooth traffic. Then, tapau some breakfast and head off to the office for my colleague, KC.

My journey continued at 9:30am when we drove off to SMSS, Bandar Tun Razak. The meeting was so brief ... less than five minutes. Then, we took off for a meeting at McDonald, Kota Damansara. We arrived just in time.

The next meeting was in Peransang Templer Golf Club. As KC parked her M2 at DYMM Sultan's parking space, we worked our way to find the grand ballroom where "F1 in Schools Technology Challenge" event took place.

Next stop was KFC, Batang Kali. We managed to stop for some durians kat tepi jalan, tersangatlah banyak dijual along the road. Thought of tapauing some but since KC's M2 is totally brand new, we didn't want to spoil the 'bau kedai' smell.

 

KC made a sudden turn to the parking site, when we saw the spectacular view of the Batu Dam (Empangan Batu, Sungai Tua). And then we headed off to our client's office at Jalan Raja Laut to submit all the documents collected today.


We reached the office by 5:00pm and I need to run some errands before I went home.

I reached home somewhere around 8:00pm and ...

Khalisya was already asleep.

So to Khalisya, Ibu has been away to work from last night (when she fell asleep) till tomorrow morning (when she wake up).

Aiseh, macam pergi outstation je ..... :D

Festival Malaysia Inovatif 2010

Lama betul tak update blog.

From 24th Nov till today, saya ada di Bukit Jalil for Festival Malaysia Inovatif 2010. Festival selama tiga hari ni dirasmikan oleh PM kita malam tadi di Stadium Putra, dengarnya ada beberapa persembahan menarik semalam (Faizal Tahir, Stacy, persembahan 1000 guitaris).

Semplat la visit booth Anlene untuk check kekuatan tulang, alhamdulillah masih lagi dalalm greenzone (risiko rendah for osteoporosis). Sedap juga Anlene perasa coklat rupanya ...

 

Sempat jugak visit booth Malaysia Genome Institute and join program The Malaysian Cohort. Lepas join program, dapat free test for BP & blood sugar, both result ada cam pelik sikit. BP titiba boleh low and blood sugar titiba boleh very high. Kata bebudak yang check tu, "low BP sebab akak tak cukup rehat kot" & "high blood sugar sebab akak baru lepas lunch" ... mintak2 betul la. Kena pi klinik check nih ...
